A large bronze tripod incense burner and cover

Japan, Meiji period

Raised on three figure-shaped legs of an immortal supporting the compressed globular body flanked by a pair of flaring S-shaped handles. On the front and the back a Tokugawa crest. The cover surmounted by a finial in the shape of a Shishi resting its left front paw on a ball.
From an old German private collection, assembled in the 1920s and 1930s and preserved in the same family ever since - Partly traces of use and age
