Description:
North-East India, Sena period, 12th cent.H. 37 (42) cm
Standing in samapada on lotus base placed on a throne decorated with a pair of worshippers to its front, his principle hands resting against a lotus flower, the left holding conch, both upper hands with club and wheel, wearing dhoti, garland, upavita, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with almond-shaped eyes, his head topped with the kiritamakuta, flanked by his consorts Bhu and Sarsavati holding the fly-whisk respectively the lute, the back slab carved with various figures and animals and the upper register with a pair of gandharvas extending each a garland to the main figure, on stand.
From a private collection in northern Germany, according to the present owner collected by a family member since before 1970 - Very minor damages due to age
