Tibeto-Chinese, 18th cent.
H. 17 cm
Seated in lalitasana on a lotus base with her right foot resting on another lotus issued by the main one, her right hand in varadamudra while the left is showing the vitarkamudra, remnants of lotus flowers flanking her, wearing sari with its border finely incised with a scrolling tendril design, bejewelled, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows that run into the nose-bridge, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, her hairdo combed in a chignon and secured with tiara decorated with a pair of floating ribbons, resealed.
An important private collection from southern Germany, assembled between 1956 and 2007, collection no. 20041, nach Überlieferung erworben bei Kuo Ostasiatika Berlin im Oktober 1993 - Very minor wear to gilding, attributes near the shoulder old replaced
