Ink, colors, and gold on paper, executed with exceptional delicacy and detail. The work is mounted as a hanging scroll on Japanese brocade textiles (kinran). It depicts Amida Nyorai seated on a terrace in the Western Paradise, flanked by Kannon and Seishi, accompanied by 39 additional bodhisattvas. Further Amida triads appear on tiered terraces or descend from celestial realms. The small rectangular side and lower cartouches depict scenes of the manifestation of the Amida Buddha, each accompanied by inscriptions. At the lower edge of the composition, there is an additional inserted text panel.
