The hilt is decorated with floral motifs in brass sheet, crafted using the repoussé technique. This type of sword was used in northern Thailand, in the ‘Lan Na Kingdom’ in the Chiang Mai region, as a weapon of war whilst mounted on an elephant, and was attached to the elephant’s bridle.
