China, 19th c.L. 65 cm, B. 143 cm / 80 x 158 cm
Silk gauze (black-blue) with brocaded patterns in silk (coloured) and gold thread. Borders woven with metal thread. Metal spherical buttons. Two part court robe (chaopao). Upper part with two large, skirt with five smaller frontal dragons. Garment in small size, possibly for a young person.
Formerly from an old German private collection, acquired before 2007 - Traces of age and use, somewhat faded, edging a bit torn, partially altered: Cuffs missing, skirt without waistband, upper garment with shoulder seams
