European private collection - 'Nine Peaches'-Vases are Chinese porcelains, especially from the Qing dynasty, which show nine peaches as a central motif. In Chinese symbolism, the peach stands for longevity, while the number nine signifies duration and happiness. The motif is associated with Daoist ideas of immortality and the goddess Xi Wangmu. The vases are often made in the Famille-rose technique and combine decorative design with wishful symbolism for long life and prosperity - Small chip at the stand, very minor wear
