Block print, in black colour on cotton fabric. In nineteen lines, a dharani for warding off evil energies, and attracting helpful forces, is printed on this prayer flag in Lantsha letters. In the centre of the text is the Kalacakra symbol, the intertwined Sanskrit syllables in Lantsha letters, and symbols: Ya, Ra, Va, La, Ma, Ksa, Ha, Moon, Sun and Rahu. They are said to be an effective protection against sudden death, and attacks of hostile demons, as well as negative energies. The prayer is framed by the three protectors of the teachings: Avalokiteshvara (top left) Simhanada Manjushri riding the snow lion (top centre) and Vajrapani (top right); Buddhist and Taoist auspicious signs; and three mythical animals. The four astrological animals appear in the four corners: Garuda, dragon, lion and tiger. The border is printed with symbols of the infinite knot, in vermilion.
