Li Di was the leading master of bird and flower painting at the Painting Academy of the Southern Song dynasty. He served three emperors (Xiaozong, Guangzong and Ningzong, 1163-1224) as a court painter and was awarded with the golden girdle. From his work about half a dozen originals are preserved. Innumerable copies in his style are extant, like this round fan painted in a nice and detailed manner
