China, Qing dynasty, 19th c.141 x 156 / 146 x 161 cm R.
Silk satin (yellow), embroidery: Silk (colored), untwisted threads, satin stitch. Framed behind glass. The couple is shown each at a desk with antiques with a two-string violin (erhu) and a lute (pipa), respectively. A surrounding frame is embroidered with flowering plants, and bamboo branches hover above the depiction.
