Japan, marked Masamitsu saku, Meiji period

The elephant is modelled fending off a tiger while stamping it underfoot at the front. The mammal's skin carefully textured to resemble its crinkled skin, signed in a rectangular reserve. Seperately carved wood stand imitationg rocks with growing bamboo.
