Description:

China, Tang/Song period and possibly earlier
L. 12-15,5 cm
Double pins, U-shape with annular rings. A single pin and a piece of three connected parts. Silver, partly gilded and with green patina. Partly worked in repoussé and hollow, others solid cast with rings.
From an important German private collection, assembled between the 1980s and 1999 - Cp.: Double pronged pins with annular rings can be found as early as the Ordos culture in China: "Chinese Gold & Silver in the Carl Kempe Collection," Bo Gyllensvärd, Stockholm, 1953, Ordos style, pp. 82-83, no. 28, but this shape was also made later. Similar pins, dated to the Yuan Dynasty: White / Bunker: p. 93, no. 106. Double pins with a wide arc can be traced as early as the Han Dynasty: "Chinese Gold & Silver in the Carl Kempe Collection," Bo Gyllensvärd, Stockholm, 1953, pp. 140-141, no. 88, a similar double pronged pin with a wide arc, dated Tang or later: pp. 104-105, no. 446.
