China, Tang/Song dynasyt and possibly earlier
L. 12-21 cm
Decorated with three dimensional dragons and floral motifs. Silver, partly gilded and with green patina. Partly worked in repoussé and hollow, others solid cast with rings.
From an important German private collection, assembled between the 1980s and 1999 - Cp.: Double pins with a wide arc can be traced as early as the Han Dynasty: "Chinese Gold & Silver in the Carl Kempe Collection," Bo Gyllensvärd, Stockholm, 1953, pp. 140-141, no. 88, a similar double pronged pin with a wide arc, dated Tang or later: pp. 104-105, no. 446.
