Japan, Muromachi period
H. 23 cm
Seated with legs crossed on a plinth with both hands raised in front of his chest, the left showing the varadamudra while the right with the palm upwards, wearing monastic garment, including underskirt and a mantle covering both shoulders falling down his body in wide pleats, its border finely carved with scrolling tendrils, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes running into the nose-bridge, inlaid urna at his forehead, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, his curled hairdo continuing into the ushnisha and set with an inlaid ratna to its front.
