Tibeto-Chinese, 18th c.

Seated astride on the caparisoned lion reclining on the lotus base, his head turned to the front showing open mouth and a curling tail, the right hand raised originally holding an attribute while the left is supporting the mongoose, wearing armour, boots, scarf floating around his shoulders, its streamers curling around his arms and its finials falling down over the lion’s back, his face displaying a wrathful expression with bulging eyes, beard framing his chin, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, his hairdo combed in a chignon and secured with a tiara, traces of polychrome, unsealed.
From a South German private collection, acquired prior to 2007 - Minor wear, slightly rest.
