China, late Ming dynastyH. 35 cm
Seated in vajrasana on a small plinth, his right hand resting on his lap while the left is showing the abhayamudra, wearing monastic garment including an underskirt tied around the waist with a ribbon knotted to the front and a wide-sleeved mantle covering both shoulders, its border finely cast with scrolling tendrils, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows that run into the nose-bridge, smiling lips, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, his hair combed in a chignon with a pair of long tresses falling down his shoulders, secured with an openwork tiara decorated to its front with stylized ratnas and a pair of floating ribbons.
