China, Eastern Han dynasty, 2nd/ early 3rd c.

With a flat face, wearing a cap with two flaps on top, the right arm placed on the ear, the left arm on a scaly animal which is crawling up in front.
Collection Julius Eberhardt (1936-2012) bought by him in 1998 from L.H.W. Investment & Trading Limited, Hong Kong. Sold from his estate at Nagel, 13.11.2013, lot 3046 and bought by the present owner
