Lan Ying, style name Tianshu, was a professional artist active in Hangzhou. He was one of the last painters of the Zhe school and could work in the brush style not only of the literati painters but also of Song masters like Li Tang (ca. 1070-1150). In his decorative paintings he uses strong brush strokes and bright colors like the green color in this small painting of a rock
