Pekinese in the Snow. Ink and colors on silk, mounted, framed and glazed. Signature „Your subject Jiang Tingxi“. Two seals of the artist.
Max Müller (1867 - 1960), German consul in Hankow, collected in China between 1905 and 1912, inherited by his daughter Irmgard Müller-Doertenbeach (1909 - 2011), acquired by the current owner from her in 1992 - Traces of age, minor damage due to age
Jiang Tingxi was a high official and famous court painter of the Kangxi era (1662-1722). He painted flowers in rich colors in a highly naturalistic style. This dog reminds one of the naturalistic style of animal painting under European influence at the Qing court in the 18th century
