China, Chongzhen period
D. 13,7 cm
Of deep ‚U‘ form with a slightly everted lipped rim, painted on the exterior in a continious wide band in underglaze blue with white prunus blossoms on a crested wave blue ground, the interior white, the base with a central whole and mouthrim unglazed. Carved wood stand.

A very similar jardinière with the same decoration but blue flower heads is published by Marchant ‚Exhibition of Chongzhen - Shunzi, Transitional Porcelain from a Private American Collection‘, London, 2007, no. 11. A rolwagen of this pattern from the bequest of Mrs. J.C.J. Drucker-Fraser is illustrated by J.A. Jörg in ‚Chinese Ceramics In The Collection Of The Rijksmuseum‘, Amsterdam 1997, no. 68, p. 80.
