Estimated Value:

600 € - 1.000 €

Result:

5.180 € incl. Premium and VAT

Description:

China, 18th/19th c.
290 x 57 cm
Base fabric completely covered with embroidery, silk in many colors, satin stitch, stem stitch, fine plaited bands of metal thread appliquéd. The panel shows four immortals in a spacious garden landscape with a pavilion beneath an old pine tree. Further down are a pair of deer and the ranking birds are also depicted as pairs. The embroidered border is decorated with flower tendrils. The remaining immortals were presumably to be found in a second panel. The very high-quality embroidery suggests that the panel was made for the household of a person of high rank.
Formerly from a German private collection, acquired before 2007 - Only slight traces of age and use, fresh colors, some loose threads
