Description:

China, incised Men ren Liang Xu zhuan, Qing dynasty, ca. 18th c.
5,3 x 5 x 9,2 cm
The seal of square section with the upper surface carved in cameo relief with a large and a small dragon, each with their mouths agape writhing amongst ruyi clouds. The details of the whiskers, horns and scaly bodies are delicately incised. The stone is predominantely of creamy tony with dark inclusions used to highlight the clouds. One side is incised Men ren Liang Xu zhuan, the seal face is left uncarved.
