Two teapots signed Mengchen are illustrated in I-Hsing Ware as numbers 5 and 6 with informative essays on this potter by Terese Tse Bartholomew which stress the difficulty of ascribing pieces with any authority. Certainly this Teapot was a treasured possession, and the mounts are very rare and the inscription is written with great freedom and style which make an 18th c. date very likely - Minor traces of use
