Description:
Japan, blade 17th c., koshirae 19th c.L. 69,4 cm
Shinogi zukuri, gunome midare hamon with nioi, tobiyaki and inazuma, boshi: ô-maru, itame-masame hada, nakago: ubu, 2 mekugi-ana, mei: Echizen (no) Kuni Yanagawa ju Tadachika (mid-17th. ct.). Fair state of polish, some light scratches and surface discolouration near the hamachi. Double habaki gilt and silver-plated with yasurime.
Koshirae: handachi-koshirae with saya-jiri, seme gane, obitori, kabuto gane and koiguchi (fuchi missing) of shakudô showing waves in flat relief and copper gilt water drops, iron tsuba of mokkô shape, decorated in similar style, copper and shakudô menuki showing I no Hayata and the nue and Hotei with a karako. Dark green binding over gold brocade. Saya: dark nashiji with black stripes.
