Mughal style. Portraits of a Mughal prince or ruler, dressed in white with brocade-patterned robes in the Mughal style. The youthful depiction, standing, equipped with sword and shield, holding a rose in his hand. The depiction of the aged figure, sword and shield laid aside, reading the Koran with a prayer chain in the other hand. Probably an allegory of youth and old age. Polychrome gouache and gold on paper.
