North-West-India, 12th/ 13th c.59 x 101 x 35 cm
The rectangular pediment of an altar shrine finely and deeply sculpted with probably the central placed four-armed Sarasvati seated in lalitasana on a pedestal flanked by a pair of elephants and roaring lions, one end with the four-armed Ambhika seated in lalitasana on a pedestal showing a lion to its front, embracing a child with her principle left hand, the other end with a four-armed deity seated in lalitasana on an elephant and the lower register with a lengthy inscription.
From an old German private collection, assembled in the late 1980s until 1999 - Partly chipped, minor damages due to age
